Personal Profile

Hi, I’m Sinthu Thakur, founder of Sintrinsic Coaching.

I’m a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist in Neurophysiology, with over 10 years of experience helping patients with their neurological diagnosis by performing and analysing various electrodiagnostic tests.

After becoming a mother, I found myself navigating a period many women know well - trying to balance career, family and the expectations that come with both. Somewhere along the way, I felt disconnected from who I was beyond the roles I was fulfilling.

That experience led me to coaching. While completing my ILM Level 5 Coaching Professional apprenticeship, I became fascinated by identity, self-belief and personal transformation. Through that journey, I rediscovered my own voice, values and sense of purpose.

Today, I combine neuroscience, coaching and lived experience to help ambitious women reconnect with themselves, build confidence and create a life that feels aligned with who they truly are.

"To date, the coaching apprenticeship has been incredible and it has been such a pivotal turning point in my career"

The Unexpected Path to Coaching

Growing up in a Sri Lankan Tamil family, I believed success followed a very specific path: get a degree, build a career, and work your way up. Apprenticeships were never presented as an option.

After completing my degree in Human Biology and Psychology, I worked hard to achieve my goal of becoming a Clinical Scientist in Neurophysiology. Along the way, I learned that qualifications alone don't guarantee growth. Experience, confidence, and the ability to navigate change matter just as much.

Following marriage, motherhood, and my return to work, I found myself reflecting on what I wanted from the next chapter of my career. I realised I was most fulfilled when helping others gain clarity, overcome self-doubt, and recognise their potential.

As I explored ways to develop this passion, I discovered the Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship through the NHS. It challenged my assumptions about career development and opened the door to a profession that felt deeply aligned with who I am.

For the first time, I could combine my scientific background, curiosity about human behaviour, and desire to empower others. That apprenticeship became the foundation of what is now Sintrinsic Coaching.

"Reflecting on my journey, I believe apprenticeships are significantly undervalued. In retrospect, pursuing an apprenticeship after A-levels would provide earning and learning on the job, developing the necessary skills to enhance my employment prospects."

My Approach to Coaching

Coaching has transformed far more than my career, it has changed the way I see myself, others and what's possible when people are given the space to think.

I've always been naturally reflective and a good listener, but coaching taught me the power of creating a space where people feel genuinely heard. In a world full of advice, opinions, and constant pressure to have all the answers, many people rarely get the opportunity to pause and explore what they truly think and want.

My approach is non-directive. I don't tell people what to do. Instead, I help them uncover their own insights, challenge limiting beliefs and build confidence in the decisions they make.

Time and time again, my clients tell me that having someone listen without judgement allows them to gain clarity, trust themselves and move forward with greater purpose.

What I love most about coaching is witnessing those moments of transformation when someone recognises their strengths, sees new possibilities and takes ownership of their next chapter.

The journey into coaching has also transformed me. It has strengthened my confidence, communication skills and self-awareness, reinforcing my belief that growth is possible at every stage of life.

"Take initiative of what you would like to achieve because taking ownership of your personal development is key"

For over a decade, I've worked as a Clinical Scientist in Neurophysiology, helping to diagnose and monitor neurological conditions by investigating the function of the brain and nervous system.

While the neuroscience fascinates me, it's the people behind every referral that matter most. My role requires not only technical expertise, but also empathy, communication and the ability to support individuals during what can often be an uncertain and emotional time in their lives.

Working closely with patients has given me a deep appreciation for the connection between our physical health, emotional wellbeing, confidence and identity. It has also strengthened my ability to listen carefully, build trust and communicate complex information in a way that feels clear and reassuring.

Alongside my clinical work, I am passionate about raising awareness of neurophysiology as a career. In 2024, I led the first-ever Clinical Neurophysiology exhibition for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust at New Scientist Live, introducing hundreds of students and aspiring healthcare professionals to the field through interactive demonstrations and career guidance.

Whether through neuroscience or coaching, my mission remains the same: helping people better understand themselves, unlock their potential and move forward with confidence.

Becoming Her Again

Since qualifying as a coach, I have been honoured to be recognised for my work in both neurophysiology and coaching, including becoming a finalist for Health, Medical and Social Care Apprentice of the Year at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards and receiving the Judges' Choice Highly Commended Apprentice Award in 2025.

But the achievement I'm most proud of isn't an award.

It's the person I became through the journey.

Balancing a full-time clinical career, coaching apprenticeship, studies, motherhood and family life challenged me in ways I never expected. Like many women, I found myself constantly giving to others while slowly losing connection with myself.

I love my children. I love my career. Yet somewhere along the way, I stopped recognising the woman behind all the responsibilities.

Through coaching, self-reflection and personal growth, I began reconnecting with my identity, confidence and purpose. I realised that so many women were experiencing the same thing, feeling successful on paper while quietly wondering where they had gone.

That realisation inspired my mission: Becoming Her Again.

I help women reconnect with who they are beyond their roles and responsibilities, rebuild confidence from the inside out and create a life that feels aligned with their values, ambitions and authentic selves.

Because my core belief is simple:

True transformation begins from within.

"One does not need to be sacrificed to fulfil the other, both can be attained with the fullest sense of commitment, passion and love"
